Registration / Continental Breakfast

  8:30 am -  8:45 am

Welcome Introductions

  8:45 am - 10:30 am

Expanding the Benefits for First Responders - Florida’s 2007 legislative session introduced a significant new W/C law that provides an unprecedented expansion of benefits as Florida joins California as the only states in the nation to provide “mental/mental” benefits...but in Florida only for first responders. NCCI predicts lots of litigation over this one. What do you think? (Speaker: Dennis Ross, Legislator and Former Chair, House Insurance Committee and a distinguished panel!)

10:30 am - 11:00 am

Sponsored Break

11:00 am - 12:00 am

Wound Care: Managing Post Trauma Infections - Ensuing complications and infections from an initial injury can create complications that result in a more serious injury and disability than the initial trauma itself.  This session will provide an overview of the latest treatment protocols for wound care. (Speaker: To be Announced)

12:00 pm -   1:00 pm

Sponsored Lunch

  1:00 pm -  2:00 pm

Ethical Dilemmas for the Rehabilitation Professional - This session explores the challenges that rehab professionals face as they try to serve their many masters: the injured workers, the case managers, the adjusters and attorneys. What would YOU do in their place? Click here for a downloadable PDF document containing all of the relevant Codes of Ethics for ABVE, Adjuster, ARN, CCM, CDMS, CRC, CVE and IARP.
(Speaker: Professor Richard Celestino, Florida Atlantic University)

  2:00 pm -  2:30 pm

Afternoon Stretch and Door Prizes

  2:30 pm -  3:30 pm

Workplace Violence in Healthcare: Prevention, Response & Recovery - Violence on the job has become an increasingly serious problem in a healthcare environment. It grows more unstable and unpredictable every day. This workshop provides practical training for clinicians, case managers, and adjusters in dealing with workplace violence. (Speaker: Dr. Laurence Miller, Licensed Psychologist)

  3:30 pm -  4:30 pm

Maintaining Balance - Some people live to work, while others work to live. Some people focus on family and relationships, while others strive to accumulate status, wealth or fame. Is there a way to have it all, or is it a myth? Maintaining a healthy balance is one of our greatest challenges, especially in the workers’ compensation claims industry.
(Speaker: Scott Brook, Attorney and Mayor, Coral Springs, FL)
