What’s YOUR Resolution?
(Comments from a New Generation "Millennial"...)

A new year is once again upon us and we are again challenged to find ways to better ourselves and our lives. No doubt you will be asked on more than one occasion, "what’s your New Year’s Resolution?” Maybe you want to spend more time with your family and friends, hit the gym more, or gain control of a personal vice. These are all great goals! But let me challenge you with another. Most of us will spend at least 2,000 hours in 2012 focused on our careers. To some, maybe that sounds a little depressing. But why should it? Why not make 2012 YOUR year to take control of your career and your profession?

We are involved in an industry that is challenging, exciting, and ever-changing. As a 3rd generation claims professional who has handled property, liability and workers’ compensation claims, I have heard many stories about the way things "used to be” and have had the pleasure of experiencing the industry in today’s world. The insurance claims industry has evolved immensely in the last few decades, and it is a different world from the one my father and grandfather knew. But with those changes come lots of excitement! Ask yourself how YOU can become involved in the continued growth of our profession, enhance your own career and be a part of the bigger picture?

A great way to get involved is to be a member of an association that exists to help maintain the integrity of our profession and to support those who embody it. This is where the WCCP Association comes in. How has the WCCP affected the world of workers’ compensation claims? The WCCP has been instrumental in the continued development of adjusters and leadership. We have brought the highest level of training to the Florida adjusting community through our advanced certification programs and conferences. Incredible relationships have been formed among our members, creating a sense of community and partnership. Most recently, the WCCP stood up for the adjusting community by fighting against proposed changes to the Adjuster Ethics Rules that would have created additional strain to an adjuster’s day-to-day job (and we were successful). The WCCP is an advocate for YOU.

Some of the other things enjoyed by members of the WCCP are:

  • Online community / Networking
  • Continuing Education and Training
  • Updates on the Latest Industry News
  • Advanced Certification (Board Certification/Litigation Certification)
  • Scholarship Opportunities for Member's Graduating Seniors

Your level of participation and involvement are up to you. Membership in the association gives you the chance to be present in your own career… to take an active stance in the future of your profession. Take control your career! Don’t let it control you, because it is when YOU take control that the excitement really begins.

We welcome you to take your career into your own hands and join us in 2012 as we continue to shape those who service the claims industry into the best that we can be.
